Conquering Tangadan Falls, La Union.

I’m back! after a series of downtime to travel and explore new places, Finally!

I’ve been planning this trip with a couple of friends for way too long. It should have been a trekking + Surfing  then drinking by the beach to cap-off a perfect La Union getaway. But due to unforeseen turn of events I was left alone. Well I can’t blame them, a weekday trek needs a month of approval to take a leave in their kind of work.

7:00 am: Partas Station in Cubao. The bus depart at around 7:40am

Bus ticket: P430. Prepare yourself for a 6-hour bus ride that stops to at least 3 locations to get passengers and refuel their empty stomachs 🙂

14:00pm Hello San Juan, La Union!

With such lovely view I needed to just relax and enjoy as waves came crashing in the shoreline but ooops! I reminded myself that this is not what I came from here. It’s 2’o’clock already and according to a local going there might take 30mins, then an hour of trekking approximately that certain trip alone would take 4-5 hours of my time and be back to San Juan just in time for dinner already.

I was supposed to be picked up by a local surfer I met here way back 4 years ago. Unfortunately he needs to go somewhere and just gave instructions on how to get to the falls. On the main road, according to my friendly local friend there were jeepneys that can take me to the baranggay heading to the falls.

Its 2pm in the afternoon and the Sun is brightly shinning- scorching HOT! I saw tricycles piled up near San Juan surf resort I asked on how much do they charge for a roundtrip ride going to tangadan. The package was originally P1100 after a series of haggle I got the package at P800 including the guide.

Now, let the pictures tell how my trekking went:

Tip: Be sure to wear appropriate shoes. I came with just my slippers which was flown into the river because of the strong current. Thankful I got a good swimmer guide. The trek includes a series of river crossing it was difficult wearing slippers so I decided to take it off and endure the pain walking thru pebbles while crossing the river that explains my sore feet in the last pic. But once you get to the main falls, its very rewarding.

Guides is an essential part of the trip so make sure to get one!

The main falls is 40-50 feet according to my guide with very strong current.

I got my trip package a little expensive so I’m sharing Kuya Luisito “C2” number so you can get it cheaper 🙂

Hungry?

I tried San Juan’s Surf Resort’s new restaurant, a bit expensive but I got no more money on hand so a credit card was handy. I tried their Pesto Pasta a little bit dry and needs more salt. Unstable internet connection. Slow service.

going back home?

I went into the main city P10 from San Juan to catch a bus going Cubao. MEncorp transport charges P378 way cheaper compared to a Partas bus ticket.
